When Jeremiah asked me to married him, I never thought about who was going to walk me down the aisle. It wasn’t until we picked a date and started looking at venues.
Every venue would ask the same questions, who did you tell first? Is your father walking you? Who’s taking you dress shopping? It wasn’t until these questions were asked that made me thought about it.
I began to feel panic, I was depressed for months and I cried non stop. This was real, I was getting married and I didn’t have any family. But I was reminded that I have a village of people, a community who loved me to the moon and back. Blood doesn’t make you family nor do we get to choose our family.
A mother isn’t just someone who gives birth to you, she’s someone who loves you unconditionally, breathe life into you, give you guidance and support. She accepts you for who you are and love you no matter what because your happiness is essential to her.
I’m so happy to have you in my life Mama Donna.
My god mom Carolyne for stepping in when I need her.
You ladies have brought me so much joy on this day.
Thank you for lending me your strength.
