Life is beyond the four corners of your environment. It’s more than just going to work, coming home and repeating. Imagine if we all opened up ourselves to meeting new people and experiencing new and exciting things.

As you grow and become more self aware, you start to see things differently. People you normally pass on the street, or sit next to at the bar or on the bus, you start noticing them more. You become more drawn to them, wanting to know about their world and life experiences.

You no longer judge a homeless person you see on the street, instead you want to help them, you want to hear their story and in return these people are now a part of your life.

I love meeting new people now, but there was once a  time I didn’t care.

I was cruising through life with blinders on.

I would walk with my head down and avoid making eye contact. I didn’t want to be your friend, I didn’t care about your story because my life was more important.

Making friends or being concerned about getting to know others wasn’t on my agenda.

“Self Awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment.”

I think the moment we start to love ourselves we become more self aware and in return we grow as human beings not judging each other but forming bonds we never thought possible.

In the process of loving ourselves, we become less selfish and self absorbed.

You realize it’s not always about you.

You start to understand the importance of meeting new people.

You start to realize the world is bigger than your surroundings.

And even though in the process of becoming more self aware, you find you may lose some friends and even family members. You understand the importance of giving them room to grow because not everyone will grow with you. But, you also let yourself be free and open enough to say  “ Hi, My name is…” meeting new people, forming new relationships and creating bond of love, joy, peace and understanding.

“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.” -Anaïs Nin

Update, February 2021: Due to a server crash, I lost 80% of my blog content. At first I was extremely sad because all my comments, views and status was lost. But, I try to find the silver lining and accept that everything happens for a reason. I wrote a 31 days of self love post in 2017. Some content were able to be saved others wasn't. I chose to share what remained because it helped so many people opened up.
